Deepak is currently pursuing a PhD-CEP degree in Chemical Engineering at MIT in a joint program between the Department of Chemical Engineering and Sloan School of Management, with thesis work focusing on engineering microbes for production of high energy, fungible biofuels molecules. Before this, Deepak worked on multiple projects in the bioenergy space including biomass pretreatment technology for production of ethanol, and development of an algal photobioreactor for CO2 sequestration and production of biofuels. Deepak pursued these projects through work at NREL (USA), Novartis, HST-MIT and MPI-CBG (Germany). He holds a B.Tech and M.Tech in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology from IIT, Delhi.
