Alba Medina Flores

Barr 2013 - 2014
Alumni
Legatum Fellow
From:
Mexico
Sector:
Real Estate
Location:
Mexico
Degree:
SM, Center for Real Estate

Medina Flores’ ultimate goal is to increase the quality of real estate developments in Mexico and Latin America, focusing on social and environmental considerations.

Specifically, she intends to create affordable, sustainable, and planned real estate developments for those at the bottom of the pyramid and in the rising middle class. These real estate developments and urban planning projects will positively impact the quality of life of residents by giving them dignified affordable places in which to live; by placing the developments near the urban work center, thus giving them more time to spend with their families; and by building sustainably, allowing them to reduce their carbon footprint.

Medina has gained a broad understanding of real estate in Mexico while engaging, at Grupo Fame, in the development of multiple urban planning projects. She was particularly involved in the development of the first public golf course in Mexico, the construction and operation of the second largest shopping mall in the country, and the construction of residential clusters for the rising middle class and those at the bottom of the pyramid. Previously, she was an equity research analyst of infrastructure companies in Mexico and an investment banker and private banker at Credit Suisse.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from ITESM in Mexico City and will be pursuing a Master’s in Real Estate Development from the Center for Real Estate at MIT.
