Santè makes affordable medications available in low-income regions of Brazil. By integrating the compounding pharmacy business model with low-cost production techniques, the company sells commonly prescribed treatments in communities where there are few, if any, retail pharmacies. The business increases access to healthcare for residents in the Central and the Northern regions of Brazil and offers a product line that serves the needs of local customers.
Mariana grew up in a family of healthcare entrepreneurs and observed the need for simple and local marketplace solutions. From her family’s experiences and in the course of her own career development, she has developed an interest in the pharmaceutical sector and supporting access to healthcare throughout Brazil.
Mariana began her career at Novartis, a global pharmaceutical company, and later started a company in the compounding pharmacy sector. Most recently, she worked in the Global Manufacturing Investment department of the World Bank, financing private sector chemical and fertilizer companies in developing markets.
Mariana holds a Master’s in Strategy and International Business from École Supérieure des Sciences Économiques et Commerciales (ESSEC), France, and a post-graduate degree in Management and Entrepreneurship from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais, Brazil. She is an MBA candidate at the Sloan School of Management.
