Nithin is passionate about smart connected technologies and is curious to find out how these emerging technologies will shape our future smart factories and commercial spaces. One of his goals is to help factories and hospitals in the developing countries such as India to reduce energy costs, increase utilization and improve visibility using low-cost and easy to use connected sensors. Through his venture, Digilitics, factories can save money by reducing their monthly electricity bills and hospitals can know how to better schedule their operations.

Nithin is a third year PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering Department at MIT. He is a researcher in the Auto-ID labs, which has been at the forefront of developing various IoT technologies. His work focuses on developing battery-less sensors that can be deployed at scale with less maintenance and minimum implementation barrier. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in India. Nithin has previously managed manufacturing operations at ITC Ltd., India’s leading FMCG producer, and helped in setting up a production facility in Bangalore for ITC’s foods business. He thinks working in the Industry and building a great network of entrepreneurial friends through MIT has strongly motivated him to look into big problems industries are facing, especially in the developing countries.
