Luis’ venture is DUO – a challenger bank building the next generation of financial services for small and medium-sized businesses (“SMBs”) in Mexico. In Mexico, most of the 4 million SMBs lack access to adequate financial services and are underserved by banks on the basis of their operational history and size, and either are offered products that do not meet their needs or simply do not get serviced at all.

DUO’s expense management platform and corporate card allow business owners to gain control and visibility on their business while accessing the financial solutions they need to reach their full potential. DUO provides immediate, online financial services tailored to the needs of SMBs, so that owners spend less time on their banking, and more time making their companies grow.

Luis was formerly an investment associate at GBM Ventures, the venture capital arm of Mexico’s largest investment bank, where invested and served as board member and interim head of growth for several of the fund’s portfolio companies. Before that, Luis worked as an Investment Banking analyst at Goldman Sachs, an operations analyst at J.P. Morgan’s Private Wealth Management Division and a corporate development analyst at an early stage startup in Shanghai, China.

Luis majored in finance, with a specialization in Business with China, at Tec de Monterrey and Fudan University. Luis is currently pursuing an MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management, where he is also president of the FinTech and Basketball Clubs.
