Erica Dhawan is launching an agricultural incubator focused on scaling the Indian farmers’ share of value in the food supply chain. She aims to enable farmers to participate directly in the market by supporting Indian producer companies and scaling up their export of organic produces. She is also identifying technologies to reduce farmers’ post-harvest losses through processing & packaging techniques and better infrastructural facilities (i.e. grain storage, cold stores) to farmers.
Previous to MIT, Erica founded Young Professionals for Acumen Fund which has morphed into New York for Acumen and regional Acumen Fund chapters across the world. She started her career at Lehman Brothers in Foreign Exchange and also helped launch Education Access for All, an education company focused on quality education in rural India. Erica graduated from Wharton undergrad in Business & Public Policy. While in college, she was named one of Teen People Magazine’s “20 Teens Who Will Change the World” and one of “15 Students You Don’t Know But Will” in Newsweek’s college edition.
