Cory’s venture is a platform that shows the security situation of a city in real time. The venture’s mission is to empower citizens and businesses to make better decisions about their security. With crowdsourcing and data aggregation, the platform creates heat maps. Users plan routes, customize geofencing alerts, and view historical trends. The platform is free to the public, but companies can subscribe to a specialized security manager version that uses proprietary data solve complex security challenges.
During the four years she worked in Mexico City, Cory was frustrated by the lack of transparency around crime. She gathered intelligence to help ease her clients’ transitions into complex markets, but figured there must be a more efficient way to visualize this crucial information. The platform is free to the general public in order to help citizens avoid getting caught in the crossfire of violent crime.
Working in security and risk management in Latin America, Cory advised companies on operating legally in complex security environments and protecting their personnel. She was also a management consultant at Booz & Company, where she helped clients expand operations across Latin America. In addition, Cory has experience advising the public sector, nongovernmental organizations, and social enterprises.
Cory holds a Bachelor’s in International Relations from Tufts University, where she focused on International Security with a minor in Latin American Studies. She is a Master of Public Administration candidate at the Harvard Kennedy School and an MBA candidate at the Sloan School of Management.
