Ravi is developing a for-profit model for bringing mobile value added services (VAS) to the estimated 200 million rural cell phone subscribers in India. For these rural subscribers, mobile phones are often the only form of digital access available. By equipping these phones with access to important informational services, Ravi aims to empower local farmers. A current MBA candidate at the Sloan School of Management, Ravi is also a former Senior Program Manager at Microsoft who traveled with Microsoft to India and China and throughout the US. While at Microsoft, Ravi worked in the Enterprise Security Group, focusing on analyzing emerging technologies and evaluating and incubating new ventures. Ravi also led several engineering teams and product launches at EMC where he was the product manager in Indian Operations for his department. Ravi has founded two companies, Lorven Inc., a software testing service, and Rumble Jumble, a start-up that provided internet classified ads to college students. Ravi serves on the board of Vanavasi Education through Empowerment, an organization creating single-teacher schools in India.
