2011 PhD, Technology Innovation Entrepreneurship
“I consider myself a social entrepreneur – society can only progress if change occurs from within by the common folks.”
Nada, a PhD candidate in the Sloan School of Management Technology Innovation Entrepreneurship Program, is developing telemedicine and remote diagnosis technologies to assist city hospitals in communicating with rural village clinics in the Middle East. Currently, villages in many developing countries do not have the resources to provide quality health care, but technology can be employed in these contexts to improve access to services and save lives. Nada’s track record as an entrepreneur, as well as her background in computer science, make her well-equipped to tackle this challenge. She has successfully implemented technology training programs for women in Saudi Arabia, formed networks to inspire students from Pakistan and India to pursue higher education, and used technology to better the quality of emergency response units in the greater Boston region. In addition, Nada has authored 13 publications, book chapters, journal articles and a patent.
