MBA Sloan Fellow, Innovation and Global Leadership Program

“I am motivated to create convenient, affordable, commercially-sustainable and efficient healthcare interventions that address significant unmet need in the developing world.”

I received an M.D. degree from the University of Ibadan, in Nigeria and subsequently completed graduate residency training in psychiatry at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. During my residency training, I became interested in health care policy and issues of access to care among vulnerable populations.

Upon departing the University of Michigan, I joined the medical school faculty at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. There I had the opportunity to develop strategic alliances with community stakeholders and worked closely with the State Department of Health on access to care, including a telemedicine network initiative. My personal and professional experiences in New Mexico reminded me of growing up in Nigeria, and rekindled my interest in global health issues.

Subsequent to my time in New Mexico, I spent two years as a National Health Service International Fellow in the United Kingdom, where I was a consultant psychiatrist and also studied International health policy at The London School of Economics. Most recently, I worked at Eli Lilly and Company in neuroscience clinical development and health outcomes.

I am a member of Licensing Executives Society and the Association of University Technology Managers. I am also board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

I am driven by the opportunities and challenges of global interdependence, particularly in the areas of health and economic development. My work as a physician in Africa, in underserved communities in the United States, in the United Kingdom National Health Service and in a global pharmaceutical company, has influenced my interest in improving access to healthcare.

On a personal note, I very much enjoy traveling to interesting places, equestrian sports, meeting and getting to know people of diverse backgrounds, and international affairs. I also have a great deal of affinity for New Mexico, which truly is an enchanting land!
