Tushar Kumar and his team created Sportswave to support healthy habits among young working professionals and children in India through the medium of recreational sports. They partner with schools and colleges to use their sports infrastructure after school hours. Their programs train children, organize matches and host tournaments for young adults. The company uses scientific training modules to inculcate a sports culture in these institutions. Sportswave also coaches under-privileged children, using sports to uplift their spirits and work towards bridging the economic gap in India.
Tushar and the Sportswave team started in early 2011 after he left a promising engineering position at Schlumberger. His work with Sportswave was initially focused on identifying the location for their first center and has now opened and is ready for business.
He earned an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He previously graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) where he received a B.T. in Electrical Engineering.
