Obaa deploys mobile health technology to identify and monitor high-risk pregnancies in rural Ghana. By providing a platform that captures vital health information, Obaa enables remote diagnosis from local medical specialists and reduces the patient burden in maternal health clinics. Obaa’s mission is to reduce the high maternal and infant mortality rates in the region by opening the gateways of communication between women and healthcare specialists who can deliver essential services.
As a young adult, Rahul noticed disparities in the quality of the infrastructure of the suburbs of New York City and that of the transportation and communication services available to his relatives in India. Rahul realized that in many areas of the world sustainable growth is hindered by lack of quality healthcare, transportation, and communication systems. Motivated by such inequities, he has set professional objectives that focus on solving systemic inefficiencies in healthcare supply chains in emerging markets.
Rahul previously worked for the United Nations World Food Program in Ecuador as a Princeton Fellow. He was part of resource mobilization and project monitoring teams to evaluate the efficacy of nutrition and food security interventions for refugees. Following the Princeton Fellowship, Rahul joined the Global Health Corps to work on a USAID project to reduce the mother-to-child HIV transmission rate in Uganda. Rahul is a co-President of the Sloan Entrepreneurs for International Development club.
Rahul holds a Bachelor’s in Community Health and Clinical Psychology from Tufts University. He also holds a Master’s in Public Health from the Tufts University School of Medicine. He is an MBA candidate at the Sloan School of Management.
