Airspress is an international peer-to-peer delivery service that allows people to send and receive small packages over long distances. The dynamic travel-and-ship marketplace is an alternative to traditional international shipping services for families, students, and businesses in West African countries and in diaspora communities in the U.S. With Airspress, members of West African diaspora communities in the U.S. can send and receive packages from friends and family via students and frequent travelers.

As an MIT student from Côte d’Ivoire, Mohamed was away from home for two years. International shipping rates prevented him from sending gifts to friends and family, and also kept him from receiving packages. Seeking an affordable solution, and realizing that there is a market demand for sending small packages, Mohamed developed a platform that connects senders and receivers via international travelers.
Mohamed has completed a software engineering internship with Facebook and also an iOS Lead Developer internship with Foxtrot Systems. Both positions helped him develop leadership skills and pursue his own goals as an entrepreneur.

Mohamed is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Engineering from the School of Engineering. He expects to graduate in June 2017.
