Kevin Berkemeyer has always been interested in nature, learning about the environment and how humans impact it. As he grew older, and looked for opportunities to combine the power of business with the needs of the environment, he found the clean energy sector one of the most effective ways to make an impact.

While working in China, Kevin saw firsthand the constraints associated with the integration of renewable energy onto the grid. Based on this, he wanted to develop a clean solution to enable greater deployment of alternative energy and ensure grid stability. He is presently developing an innovative, modular and low-cost energy storage solution to address this problem.

While working at Juice Energy, a startup retail electricity company based in New York, he helped develop electricity price-hedging strategies for large electricity users and launched a greenhouse gas emissions inventory consulting business unit. Kevin then joined First Solar, the largest solar photovoltaic module manufacturer and project developer in the world. After a year in the New York office, he was asked to start the company’s business in China. Based in Beijing for three years as the China Country Manager, he led the local team in the identifying and developing utility-scale solar projects in the world’s largest solar market.

Kevin is currently pursuing his MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management. He holds a Bachelor’s in Global Economics and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
