ikEnergy bridges the energy poverty gap while improving the effectiveness of small and medium sized businesses in Nigeria. The solution offers business owners reliable and sustainable solar energy systems that either supplement or replace the need for diesel generators. In addition to providing solar systems, ikEnergy offers long-term maintenance services for customers. ikEnergy ensures that customers have reliable and sustainable energy systems and the best service for their investment.

While growing up in Nigeria, Chinasa experienced the negative implications from the lack of reliable electricity. Many relatives, including her father, spend a significant portion of their business income on electricity. Realizing that there have been limited improvements in Nigeria’s energy infrastructure since her childhood, Chinasa has decided to use her academic and professional background and expertise in energy to create an efficient and accessible solution.

Prior to MIT, Chinasa worked as a consultant in the energy industry. She has extensive experience with project management, and in designing, testing and implementing SAP solutions for oil and gas clients. While working in the energy industry, Chinasa learned about the vast opportunities for creating and scaling applications in the developing world. As a result, she dedicated her free time to learning about energy development in emerging markets, which led her to Sloan.

She earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin where she studied Electrical Engineering, with a focus in renewable energy. At MIT, she is in the Leaders for Global Operations program (LGO), pursuing an MBA from the Sloan School of Management and an SM from the School of Engineering.
