Armen Mkrtchyan’s project aims to provide a complete solution for Armenian farmers wishing to increase field productivity while lowering operating costs. His company, AgroDrone, accomplishes this through the use of unmanned aircraft vehicles (UAVs) and proprietary software analytics, which together provide a method for farmers to measure crop health. His company will design and manufacture these UAVs, allowing farmers to use targeted field fertilization and harvesting to lower their costs and greatly increase their yields.
Armen has experience in both aeronautical engineering and business development. While a Master’s student at MIT, he worked on modeling operator performance and workload when supervising multiple UAVs. Armen developed a simulation test for controlling these vehicles. He also interned at Ernst & Young’s advisory department, working on various business cases.
Armen is currently an ScD Candidate in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT as well as an MS student in the System Design and Management Program at the MIT School of Engineering. He has won various honors and awards for his work, and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of North Dakota.
