John M. Hennessy

Former Chairman and CEO, Credit Suisse First Boston
The honorable John M. Hennessy is an independent Senior Advisor of Credit Suisse First Boston and the retired Chairman and CEO of Credit Suisse First Boston, serving in that capacity from October 1st, 1989 through December 31st, 1996. He is also currently the co-chairman of the Safe Water Network, a not-for-profit company dedicated to bringing market-based solutions to the problem of access to clean water for the poor in Africa, Bangladesh and India. Mr. Hennessy served as Assistant Secretary, International to the U.S. Treasury Department (presidential appointment) from 1972 to 1974. He has served on the boards of numerous private sector corporations and educational institutions, including Corning Inc., where he served for nineteen years and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for the last ten years. He is now a Director Emeritus of Corning. He was a member of the MIT Corporation for ten years. His civic activities include, among others, Board Member of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation and The Twin Towers Fund, and Chairman of Care Corporate Council, The Manhattan Institute, and the London Stock Exchange.
